Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for disposal
   • Identify requirements for disposal of non-explosive dangerous goods.
   • Confirm non-explosive dangerous goods to be disposed of and disposal method.
   • Identify and apply documentation and instructions.
   • Notify and liaise with stakeholders.
   • Complete disposal preparation.
2. Dispose of non-explosive dangerous goods
   • Prepare and test disposal equipment.
   • Dispose of non-explosive dangerous goods.
   • Apply emergency and contingency procedures.
   • Inspect residue to ensure all items have been destroyed.
3. Finalise the destruction process
   • Maintain and refurbish site and/or equipment.
   • Maintain documentation and records.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and includes:

adhering to operational safety requirements, including risk analysis applying operational safety conducting site preparation and refurbishment disposing of non-explosive dangerous goods using at least two of the methods listed in Range of conditions interpreting and applying technical instructions related to the disposal of non-explosive dangerous goods
